Can Blog Post Count as Samples? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/can-blog-post-count-as-samples/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 12:16:29 +0000 Sure they can. Just make sure that if you are using a blog post as a sample, it has a certain level of professionalism. If all you're doing writing a journal or diary and complaining about the world! then nobody wants to see that. It's probably not gonna get you any job. But if you're say a travel blog and you wrote 2500 words on traveling, then that's gonna be not only a great portfolio piece but it's also something that can help show off your personality.

What should my article samples be about? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/what-should-my-article-samples-be-about/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 12:10:41 +0000 They can literally be about anything you want them to be that shows off your writing ability. So if you're a generalist I'd choose 3-5 samples that are widely different topics to show that you really are versatile and you can talk about a wide variety of things.

If you truly have no idea what to write on samples, here are a few prompts, write a 750 words article about the pros and cons of 4K cable boxes, or 5 reasons that Tik Tok is better than Instagram for creators.

One thing I want to mention here is the absolute most valuable, best skill you can learn as a freelance writer is to quickly learn a piece of information and be able to digest it and write a coherent article about it quickly. If you can do that you will be one of the most in-demand freelancers out there.

How many sample articles do I need on my website? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/how-many-sample-articles-do-i-need-on-my-website/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:59:52 +0000 I think 3-5 is a pretty good starting point. You can show your work samples to the potential client so that they can access your writing style, mode, and how qualitative your writing approach is. So 3 to 5 sample articles are well enough to show them off your work.

Should I post my rates on my website? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/should-i-post-my-rates-on-my-website/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:56:19 +0000 There're 2 schools of thought here. The first one says yes you should post your rates, that way you can make sure that any potential client and you are on the same page. The last thing you'd wanna happen is to get in a discussion with someone and then find out that you charge way more than they are able to pay.

However, there's also an argument for not posting your rates where basically that allows you to tailor how much you charge based on the scope of the project. You just feel like charging a little bit more money by not posting your rates, that gives you the flexibility to do so.

How do I make my freelance site? Does it have to be on WordPress? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/how-do-i-make-my-freelance-site-does-it-have-to-be-on-wordpress/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:45:46 +0000 No, it doesn't have to be on WordPress necessarily. You can use Squarespace or Wix or whatever you want. But I generally recommend people start on WordPress because it's affordable, open-source, and there's a huge support community out there. There are a ton of themes & plugins you can customize your site and make it exactly what you want. And If you decide you really wanna grow it into a blog later on and try to get search traffic, it's going to be much more search friendly if you're on WordPress.

English isn't my first language, can I still become a freelance writer? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/english-isnt-my-first-language-can-i-still-become-a-freelance-writer/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:36:10 +0000 Yeah! of course, you can because you can grow up as a freelance writer in your native language and probably face less competition doing so. If you decide that you want to start freelance writing in English if it's not your first language, then learn some basics of English preferably online. Invest sometime in yourself to improve your skills & then start your writing journey.

Do I need experience to be a freelance writer? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/do-i-need-experience-to-be-a-freelance-writer/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:29:49 +0000 No, you don't need a degree or any special certification but you should probably have at least a high school-level writing ability. And if you don't then start practicing by taking the online free courses, start reading articles or books, and then start practicing writing. By the passage of time within 4-6 months, you'll be able to start writing with ease. That's not much hard.

Should I become a freelancer or start a Blog? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/should-i-become-a-freelancer-or-start-a-blog/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:25:17 +0000 If you're trying to decide between these 2 things then I've got one question for you. What is more important to you? Making money as quickly as possible or building a business around something that you love to do that can turn into a passive income in a long run? If you need to make money as quickly as possible, start freelance writing, and in the next couple of weeks, and months you can be building a full-time income.  If money is less important and you really want to build around something you love to do, then maybe start a blog or a niche site because its gonna take longer to monetize, but in the end, you're building an asset for yourself that will be able to bring a passive income. It just might take a year or two before you start making real money online from your blog site.

Do I need a Website to start Freelance Writing? https://bloggingregime.com/community/freelance-writing-for-beginners/do-i-need-a-website-to-start-freelance-writing/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:15:12 +0000 No, you don't need a website. If you're really stressed about the idea of building one, don't worry about it. But it is for your benefit if you do have one. Think about it, whether you meet a person or someone online what's the first thing they're going to do after they meet you? They're gonna go & look you up & make sure that you are a legitimate person and you are the person they want to hire. And if you have a website, it makes it much easier for them to do that research for you to be able to prove yourself what you're talking about and give you an opportunity & build rapport with anybody that might have something in common with something they see on your site.

So you don't have to have the website necessarily. But if you can make one, you probably should
