5 Blogging Tips for Beginners
blogging-regime

Alright! It’s time you are setting a blog and you’ll need to know how to start a blog. You’re probably looking for some blogging tips, how to be successful in your blogging career, and so on so forth. I’m saying all those keywords just to hopefully get a little extra Google love. But in all honesty, most people trying to start a blog fails quickly and despite all the excitement early on, it just doesn’t work out well.

Fortunately for you, I’ve been helping other people build blogs and websites as well and today I’m gonna give you the five best tips for your first year of blogging. These are the things you have to remember and I bet if you do it, it’s gonna make you more successful on your blogging journey. It’s gonna make you happier throughout the process, and most importantly it’s gonna make sure that you continue on down the road and you don’t give up so early.

1. Content is King!

Okay, number one and you’ve probably heard this a lot and, indeed, content is really is a king. You need a certain amount of Content for your site to be an authoritative resource.  Whether you like to swallow it or not, when you’re starting a blog, the first thing you have to do is really focus on your content.

There are two approaches to this and in my opinion, one is better than the other. The first one is the depth of content. I’ve noticed that only a handful of bloggers out there have success with posting fewer more authoritative posts. A great example is Brian Dean he started his site backlinko and he’s only got maybe 30 or 40 posts on his site in the beginning, but he goes really far in-depth and that’s kind of his whole stick is make longer, more in-depth posts and that’s what a lot of people miss, but he probably spends ten times as much time marketing those blog posts as he does create them.

You don’t necessarily want to be a marketer that’s not why you signed up to start a blog. You don’t want to be going and begging for backlinks and doing that.

No matter what kind of blogger you are, there is going to be a little bit of marketing involved. But in your first year of blogging, you don’t really have to do that much in my opinion.

When you start blogging, you need to write as much as possible. You should be publishing two to four times a week to really get a nice breadth of content.

I’m of the mindset that it’s better to get a good post up on one of those topics rather than a really great definitive post that you spend 10 times as much time putting together. Get the basics up there because you can always go back and make it better later on.

So, when you start blogging, do the keyword research to figure out what are all the terms you would like to rank for, make sure you’ve got a post around all of those major terms, and then you can start filling in the gaps from there. But content is king! Without an authoritative site, without proving that you know what you’re talking about on a specific subject, it’s going to be a lot more difficult to rank and get organic search traffic which, in all honesty, is the easiest way to start growing your blog.

2. You’re Getting a Degree in Blogging

The second blogging tip I’ve got for you If you are just getting started is to keep in mind that you’re getting a degree. In the first 365 days of your blog, you are essentially getting a degree in blogging. I don’t know of any university that offers a bloggers degree. So, this is something you have to learn on your own, and keep this in mind as you’re going through it, everything you’re doing is training. You’ve built your blog as your training ground. It’s teaching SEO, copywriting, the basics of design, how to build a website, how to market, how to build relationships, and how to do sales.

Because you’re trying to promote your stuff, all of these skills are incredibly beneficial. It’s gonna take months for your site to really start getting traction. Remember that you are learning along the way. Everything you’re doing is part of your Education.

This is the point where most bloggers make their hands up. Maybe you haven’t felt like your site doesn’t get too much traffic as you wanted, and you’re not getting the wins that you wanted. Remember you’re getting a degree at the end of the first year. You are going to have a degree in blogging, you are going to know so much more than you know right now.

So, treat it as such! Don’t worry as much about the end result. Think about the process and what you’re learning, what that’s going to enable you to do further on the path.

3. Focus & Celebrate the Small Victories

That’s the important thing while you’re at the beginning of your blogging journey. Most people get exhausted and give up because they focus on the ultimate results, and ignored their gradual steps and small things that are leading them towards their ultimate goals.  Focus on the small victories like you’ve set up your website, it’s a small victory, you’ve written your first blog, it’s a victory, you’ve made up your logo. Your every small step is leading you towards your goal and you have to celebrate and enjoy your journey down the road. That’s my way of setting goals instead of having one big lofty goal of making $10,000 in passive income and quitting your job.

I’ve really been enjoying all the small victories, making my first dollar, making my first hundred dollars, getting my first comment, my first day of ten people visiting the site, my first day of a hundred people visiting the site, all of these are small victories that I’ve mapped out I’ve got milestones along the way.

The stage comes when you will get excited to say oh! Hey, I’m making a lot of progress! Even though if you don’t have thousands of visitors a day, you’ve got a lot more than you had last month which is more than the month before.

So, you’re starting to see the progress and I’m really just trusting in these small victories because I understand it doesn’t happen overnight. My way is gonna take you a little bit more time. You can have a lot of cool things happen throughout the process. You can start making money, you can start getting traction but to get to that point where it’s a full-time job and you’re rich and famous beyond your wildest dreams! that’s gonna take a little bit of time. So, if you’re prepared for that then blogging can be an amazing thing to change your life. I think starting a blog is the best thing ever I think everybody should do it.

You have to enjoy the process, you have to have those milestones so that you don’t get beat down so early, you get super frustrated and then you quit.

4. Your First Year is Building Relationships

Your first 365 days of blogging are all about building relationships. The relationships you build now are going to pay such a huge dividend down the road. You need to start to meet all of these people that have similar stories. Make relations with like-minded people on social media, join the groups of niches you working on. Here’s the thing when you’re first starting your blog and you’re brand new, most people are not going to give you considerable time. You should reach out to the people in your industry.

Introduce yourself, don’t ask for anything but open up the doors to building those relationships. Comment on their blog post, comment on their Twitter and  Instagram. Send them an email and introduce yourself. So you’re least opening up the door and then over the course of the next few months, they’re gonna become a little bit more familiar with who you are. Maybe 3-4 months down the road after you’ve made some progress.

So, when you are first getting started, it’s time to build relationships. Introduce yourself in the first place, be very complimentary of everything that your competitors and other people in your industry are doing. Don’t really ask for anything. Just let them know you’re around, let them know you appreciate the type of work they’re doing. That’s really gonna pay you off, and if you have the opportunity to go in-person, meetups with people in your industry, that can be a great thing to do.

5. Monetize Sparingly

The last blogging tip for the first 365 days! Monetize sparingly! I know when you start blogging, all you want to do is ‘how can I make money, ‘how can I make money as quickly as possible.

There’s nothing wrong with making money. That’s the goal with all of this you’re on. You’re trying to build a lifestyle business. But if you try and monetize too much quickly, you are going to ruin any trust that you have built with your audience when you’re building a blog, when you’re starting your blog. The most important thing you have in your relationship with your readers is the trust that you have to value the most in the first place.

If all you do is go with Affiliate links, after Affiliate post, after affiliate posts and you make it clear by doing that you really haven’t used the products that you’re promoting, no one’s gonna trust you. So, when you’re first getting going focus on putting out the best quality content you have over a nice breath within your niche, covered all of the bases within your niche, and then be very specific about the areas where you monetize, maybe one post out of five or even one posts out of ten is one we’re trying to monetize it.

So, you need to build trust with your audience. Don’t make them feel that you’re are just selling a piece of crap to them through affiliate links that they really don’t need. Try to give them a solid piece of information for what they’re actually visiting your site. Be honest with your readers, and as I said earlier in my posts, money is the fruit or by-product of your success. So instead of focusing on making money too much at the beginning, is not going to make any progress, rather the greater chances to ruin things early on.

Summing Up

So those are my five best blogging tips. Maybe you already knew it. But if you can do those things, you are going to have a killer the first year. After 365 days of blogging, you are going to be in a much better position.

Remember that content is the king in a blogging or writing career. The most important thing when you’re first starting a blog is having really high-quality authentic content to treat this as your education, you are getting a degree in the first year, even if things don’t move as quickly as you would like them. You’re still getting a ton of value out of it with everything that you’re learning throughout the process.

Focus on the small victories, the milestone, mindset is the key.

Remember this is the time to build relationships, this is the time to learn from other people to introduce yourself, to start making those connections because they’re not gonna happen overnight but if you start nurturing them now and you start slowly building them up a year from now, they can be in a really good spot and especially once your blog starts to take off.

Monetize sparingly. I know you want to get that money I know you want to quit your job; I know you want to do that right now. But pull back, have a little restraint, do it very selectively when it makes sense, and make sure that not every post is all about money.

Focus on building trust and building those relationships.

So hopefully those blogging tips sound helpful to you. I’m happy to help you. I would love to help you. So, hope you learned something important for your blogging career in this post.
